LITO GENILO WINS THE TOP PRIZE AT WPPP’S ANNUAL TILT

Smart Shot Studio’s owner and head photographer, Lito Q. Genilo, is the Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the Philippines’ Photographer of the Year.

After 10 months and 30 competitions, Genilo has emerged as the association’s winningest lens man, having earned the most number of points over the course of the year.

Members of the WPPP would tell you that this is no easy feat. From February to November, the country’s best wedding photographers choose their best shots in the hopes of earning enough points to land them in first, second or third place during their monthly contests.

First place gets 1.5 points, Second Place gets 1-point and Third Place gets half (0.5) a point. A photographer rarely gets two in a row, so staying at the top of the list is difficult even for the most seasoned of photographers. Themes vary monthly and On-The-Spot (OTS) Contests done on location always manage to shake up the roster.

Genilo kept his lead during all ten months of the competition, never once letting go of the top spot. He naturally emerged as the top photographer of the year, accumulating a total of 11.2 points for the year.

It would be interesting to find out if he can continue his winning streak this 2016 or if someone new will be given the Photographer of the Year title come November.

All wedding and portrait photographers in the country are encouraged to join the association so they can measure their skills against the country’s best and continue to improve their craft.
